The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission exists to
investigate alleged violations of federal employment law. In many cases, you may be required to submit a complaint to the EEOC before proceeding with formal
litigation. If you have already begun this process, please be aware that the EEOC only achieves positive results for complainants in a very small percentage
of cases.
You always have the right to reach a private agreement with your employer while the EEOC conducts its investigation (a process which generally takes 3 to 6 months). You also have the right to have an attorney conduct any scheduled mediation.
